ABOUT THE AUTHOR JOHN SUMMONS has been writing plays for adults and children for many years. He has had productions by a number of Sydney's leading theatres with his plays directed by some of Australia's top directors including Richard Wherrett and Hayes Gordon. He was also playwright-in-residence at Sydney's Ensemble Theatre. In addition to his writing he has been a high school teacher of English, ESL, history and drama and a lecturer in a course for playwrights at Sydney's Institute of Technology (now UTS). His play publishers have included Cambridge University Press (UK), The Dramatic Publishing Company (USA)* and Currency Press (Australia). He has been produced for radio by the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation). He has a keen interest in theatre for children and was involved in theatre-in-education for many years. His play Massacre at Myall Creek toured various states of Australia for several years and played to many thousands of students. He is a member of the Australian Writers Guild. In addition to writing plays he has had a long interest in e-learning and software development. In 2000 he received recognition for his contribution to public education by authoring Teacher's P.E.T., an interactive literacy CD resource for the Australian Commonwealth and NSW governments. *His play Kamikaze Kate is available through The Dramatic Publishing Company (USA) and has been listed as an approved text for the University Interscholastic League one-act play competition for many years.
